Description
Well-known Christian author and teacher Rev. Roy Oswald will lead an ?Emotional Intelligence? workshop May 17 for pastors and church leaders. The workshop, hosted by local nonprofit Ministry Development Services, is part of the organization's Resilient Ministry Leadership Development and Effectiveness Workshop Series. The class will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, 2817 Mount Harmony Church Road, in Matthews. Cost is $150 which includes lunch and materials. Participants must register in advance by April 17. Pastoral ministry has unique demands that call for a leader to be aware of their emotional state in order to be able to serve their community. Workshop participants will learn to explore and put into place healthy practices that enhance ?Emotional Intelligence.? Guests will learn how to become in tune to their own emotional state and the emotional state of others, which promotes the spiritual health within the community. An ordained Lutheran pastor, Oswald is the author of 17 books, including his most recent titles, ?The Emotional Intelligence of Jesus? (2015) and ?Polarities in Congregational Life (December 2009). He is a founding board members of EQ-HR: The Center for Emotional Intelligence and Human Relations Skills, and has been the executive director since the start-up of the Willamsport, Md. center in 2008.
