Description
Mom doesn't need new slippers and Dad doesn't want a new tie. So this holiday season, why not give a gift that will make a difference in the lives of local nonprofits? The Matthews-based business JAJ Nonprofit Resource is again partnering with the nonprofit Levine Senior Center to help area residents do just that. The second annual Shopping from the Heart nonprofit expo and shopping event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Levine Senior Center, 1050 DeVore Lane, in Matthews. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served. Described as a ?unique shopping experience,? the event's goal is to raise money for local nonprofits. This year's event will include as many as 36 nonprofits, who will set up shop in the senior center's ballroom and present shoppers from the public with a wish list of their needs. Participants can shop from the booths by purchasing items sold by groups as fundraisers and/or make a donation in honor of or in memory of their loved ones. Gift certificates for donations will be available to give as gifts. Last year's event drew 27 local nonprofits and raised $4,700. In addition to raising cash for the agencies, the event will allow nonprofits a rare opportunity to network with each other and inform the public about their missions. A limited number of nonprofit booths are available. To register or for more information, call Julie Jahn at 704-560-9202 or email jajresource@gmail.com.
