The Meeting will be held at the Matthews Public Library at 230 Matthews Station St., in downtown Matthews. The program will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 22. It is FREE to the public. For more information, please call the museum at 704-708-4996 or the library at (704) 416-5000.
She will discuss the history of the churches of the area, and talk about the schools in that area including the “Shot-gun school house” and the Matthews Colored School built with the help of the Rosenwald Foundation. She will highlight stories of life in Tank Town, the early residents and the jobs they held.
The exhibit will be on display at the museum now thru August 17, 2019. Money from Truliant Federal Credit Union funded the extended research necessary to complete the project.
