Topic: Greater Charlotte Hospitality & Tourism Alliance: How does Industry Growth and Tourism in the Region affect your Business?
Speaker: Mohammad Jenatian, President, Greater Charlotte Hospitality & Tourism Alliance
Mohammad Jenatian is the President of the Greater Charlotte Hospitality & Tourism Alliance, which is a full-time private membership association representing more than 900 businesses in the Greater Charlotte area. The HTA?s mission is ?helping members with growing their business and addressing their challenges?.
Mohammad has been involved in the Charlotte area hospitality industry for over 30 years; as president of the former Charlotte Hotel & Motel Association in the late 1980s he led the local advocacy efforts and required legislative initiatives that enabled Charlotte to build the current Charlotte Convention Center, which opened in early 1995.
While managing hotels in the early 1990s, he and other leaders of the local hospitality industry established the Greater Charlotte Hospitality & Tourism Alliance. Mohammad and his organization have proudly been leading the required efforts for the past 29 years, or have been a vital part of, efforts to make the Charlotte area one of the most premiere travel destinations in the United States.
The Charlotte area?s hospitality and tourism industry has grown to become a $7.8 billion a year industry in the Charlotte region and employs more than 100,000 people. The massive growth of the region?s hospitality industry has also been the driver behind amenities (sports, arts, night life, entertainment) which have made our region a destination choice for college gradates and young professionals. This has been critical in our region?s ability to retain and attract major corporations for our prosperous area.
